BTHK Participates in ITU Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-26) in Ankara

The Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-26), convened by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) — a United Nations specialized agency — was held in Ankara, Türkiye, between 12 and 15 May 2026.

The symposium, regarded as one of the most prestigious international events in the field of telecommunications and information and communication technologies, was attended by Mr. Kadri Bürüncük, President of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTHK), accompanied by BTHK Expert Mr. Mehmet Cezar.

Hosted by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority of Türkiye (BTK), GSR-26 brought together regulatory bodies, policymakers, and leading stakeholders of the digital ecosystem in Ankara, with the participation of more than 1,000 high-level representatives from approximately 100 countries.

Held under the theme "Navigating the Digital Frontier," GSR-26 addressed a range of critical topics, including artificial intelligence governance, 5G and beyond technologies, digital transformation processes, digital resilience against disasters, a sustainable digital future, and the protection of youth in digital environments.

During the opening ceremony and press conferences held within the framework of the event, significant messages were conveyed regarding global regulatory policies and digital transformation processes.
