📄 Device Pre-Registration Process
At the BTHK Registration Unit, your device pre-registration is completed; once the process is finalized, the documents are delivered to you.

💰 Customs Duty Payment
After the device pre-registration process, the customs duty must be paid at the BTHK Customs Unit located in the same building. During payment, you are required to present the device with IMEI, an identification card (for TRNC/Turkish citizens) or a passport (for foreign nationals), as well as the documents received from the BTHK Registration Office.

✅ Completion of Registration
Following the customs payment, the document obtained must be submitted either to the BTHK Registration Office in the same building or to the Turkcell / Telsim Subscriber Registration Center in your district.
⚠️ Warning
If your documents are not submitted to the BTHK Registration Unit located in the same building, or to the Northern Cyprus Turkcell / Telsim Subscriber Registration Centers, your device registration will not be completed.

How can I find out my device’s IMEI number?
To find out your IMEI number, dial #06# on your device’s call screen. After dialing, the IMEI number will be displayed automatically on the screen.
Which devices need to be registered?
All devices with an IMEI number, i.e., devices that allow mobile communication through a SIM card, must be registered. This includes mobile phones, tablets, and similar devices.
Can I use a device brought from abroad in TRNC?
Devices brought from abroad can be used without registration for a total of 90 days within a calendar year, starting from the moment they are first used or from the time a notification is received indicating that the device is unregistered. If registration is not completed within this period, the device will be barred from communication at the end of the period.
I lost my device / it was stolen. What should I do?
If your device is stolen or lost, you must report it to the nearest police station.
How can I prevent my SIM card from being used by someone else?
To prevent your SIM card from being used by someone else, you can contact your operator’s call center and have your line deactivated.
What is an unregistered device and how can it be identified?
Devices that are not found in the Institution’s records or brought into the country through illegal means are considered unregistered (illegal) devices. You can check your IMEI number by dialing #06# and verify it through the IMEI Inquiry section. If you receive a notification stating ‘IMEI is temporarily available for use’ or ‘No record was found for this IMEI,’ you are required to register your device.
Which devices are barred from communication?
Devices with altered IMEIs: Pursuant to the Electronic Communications Law No. 6/2012, such devices are barred from communication. These devices can only be used with the line to which they have been paired.
Unregistered devices: Devices brought from abroad can be used unregistered for a maximum of 90 days within a calendar year; if not registered within this period, they will be barred from communication.
How can I collect my IMEI device sent to the TRNC Post?
The form to be obtained from the Post Office must be completed in full with the information of the device and the applicant,and submitted to BTHK with a wet signature.
Who can benefit from the Student Exemption device registration process?
Only foreign students who are not citizens of the TRNC are eligible for device registration under the student exemption.
What is required during registration to benefit from the Student Exemption (Reduced Customs Duty)?
Identity document: The original ID card for Turkish citizens, and the original passport for foreign nationals.
Student certificate: The original student certificate from a university approved and active by the TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture, approved and up-to-date.
Requirement to own a line: At the time of application, at least one mobile phone line registered in your name is required.
What is the customs fee payable by students benefiting from the Student Exemption (Reduced Customs Duty)?
A fixed tax of 4,000 TL (Four Thousand Turkish Lira) is collected for one mobile phone.
I found out that the device I purchased domestically is unregistered. What should I do?
Apply to the place of purchase. For devices legally imported, their information must be reported to the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTHK) by the importing company so that they appear in MCKS. Devices sold without notification are identified through regular inspections and barred from communication.
How can I find out if my device registration has been completed?
You can check the registration status of your device through the IMEI Inquiry screen. If the result shows “Registered via individual application. IMEI is available for use.”, your process has been completed.
Do those who will stay in the TRNC for a short period need to register their devices?
Devices brought from abroad can be used without registration for a total of 90 active days within a calendar year. If this period is exceeded, the device must be registered.
Can I complete the device registration process online?
No. The device registration process is carried out only at the BTHK building, within the BTHK Registration Unit.
