Date and Conditions Finalised in the 5G Process

Supplementary agreements have been signed between the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTHK) and the operators under the Authorisation Agreements concerning the establishment and operation of 5G infrastructures and the provision of 5G services.

The supplementary agreements in question were signed separately between BTHK and Vodafone Mobile Operations Limited and Kıbrıs Mobile Telekomünikasyon Limited, setting out arrangements for the launch of 5G services in the 700 MHz and 3600 MHz frequency bands on 15 November 2026.

With the new arrangement, the commencement date of the 5G authorisation granted for the 700 MHz and 3600 MHz frequency bands has been brought forward by approximately two years. Accordingly, the authorisation will be valid for 20 years from 15 November 2026, the date on which the service will commence, and will expire on 14 November 2046.

In addition to the provisions regarding the service commencement year, which has been brought forward with the launch of the 5G service, the agreement also sets out conditions concerning service quality and coverage.

The supplementary agreements signed between BTHK and KKTCELL and KKTC Telsim have introduced significant arrangements regarding 5G in the TRNC. Under the coordination of BTHK, work towards launching 5G services on 15 November 2026 continues in cooperation with the relevant parties.
